If you are a student at the Delaware College of Art & Design (DCAD) or the University of Delaware (UD), you are welcome to join us for weekly conversations about life and spirituality. The group at DCAD meets on Wednesday evenings at the Residences at Rodney Square on Market Street in Wilmington. The group at UD meets on Thursday afternoons at Panera on Main Street in Newark. For more info about campus conversations see the links under the “link” section of my blog to the left.

About Campus Conversations:
We don’t have many places in our society where we can come together for respectful dialogue about ‘stuff’ that really matters. So the purpose is to give people a place where they can interact with one another about issues of life and spirituality. It’s also a place for people to safely ask difficult questions, get honest answers, and figure out what they believe without any danger of being rejected, regardless of what conclusions they might come to.

For those of you in Wilmington, join us this Saturday evening for a discussion on the film Garden State. We will start the movie at approximately 7:15 PM and have a time of discussion afterwards. We’ll be meeting at the home of some friends of mine in Newark. Email me if you’re interested and I’ll get you directions. Our rationale behind doing film discussions is to look deeply into the movies that impact us and investigage both the statements they make and the influences that make them effective.

Sorry I haven’t posted much lately. I’ve been busy gearing up for ministry stuff this fall. I hope to settle into a normal routine of blogging in the next week. Until then I want to use the next few days to make you locals aware of some things upcoming in the near future.

For those of you who live around Wilmington, you should consider attending the next Friday Night Forum sponsored by my church. The forum will take place this Friday, September 14th from 7:00-8:00 PM at the Barnes & Noble on Concord Pike. Join us for coffee and conversation as Jim Weaver, pastor of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Middletown, Delaware speaks on “Orphan Care: Pursuing Justice for the World’s Most Vulnerable.” The brief lecture will focus on the plight of orphans around the world and how we might respond. After the lecture there will be opportunity for discourse. Please come regardless of your religious persuasion. This is a community forum, not a church forum. I hope to see you at Barnes & Noble this Friday!

About Friday Night Forum:
Our purpose is to offer engaging presentations and discussions on current cultural topics. Though the presentations are delivered from a Christian perspective, the approach is respectful and tolerant, not coercive. Each presentation is approximately 45 minutes and is followed by a question and answer time.
